- 1931
On August 16 a magnitude 5.8 earthquake, still the largest recorded in Texas, hits Valentine. The adobe stays up.

The building becomes a bar. The Sanchez family runs it for decades. Victor Sanchez, a later owner, was born inside on the Fourth of July.
- 1996
The doors close to the public. For a while the room works as a barbershop, which explains the chair.
- 2011
Two men steal the cash off the walls. The sheriff catches them the next day and makes them pin every bill back up. The bills they replaced carry a small red dot.
- 2019
Jeff Wilson, a former professor who once lived a year in a dumpster, reopens the doors.
